Safety DayLights™
What are Hella LED Safety DayLights™?

Hella LED Safety DayLights™ for commercial and passenger vehicles have been developed to be seen during the day and will have a significant impact on road safety by increasing vehicle visibility for other road users.

Hella LED Safety DayLights™ (DRL) are designed as forward facing signal lamps to enhance the visibility of your vehicle to other road users during daylight hours.

How do Hella Safety DayLights™ function?

Hella Safety DayLights™ switch ON and OFF automatically via the ignition. The lamps remain OFF when the headlamps
are ON.

How energy efficient are Hella Safety DayLights™?

Hella LED Safety DayLights™ use less than 4 watts per pair, thus equating to 95% less power consumption than your car headlamps, saving as much as 0.2 litre of fuel per 100km. In addition, using headlamps during daytime means your valuable headlamp bulbs would burn out much more quickly requiring frequent costly replacements.

What kind of light do LED Safety DayLights™ produce?

The specially designed Hella LED Safety DayLights™ produce a brilliant white light. This increases the warning effect and gives a discernable advantage in terms of safety. This bright light enhances the visibility of the vehicle and allows the vehicle to be recognised earlier by other road users.

Dedicated LED Safety DayLights™ are signal lamps some 300% brighter in the direction of the oncoming vehicle than dipped beam headlamps.

How do Hella LED Safety DayLights™ provide me with a cost saving?

The standard dipped beam lighting system of a car consumes a minimum of 120 watts of power adding as much as 0.2 litres/100 km to the fuel consumption of your vehicle. A vehicle that travels 25,000 km per year during daytime with dipped beam headlamps on would consume an additional tank of fuel every year just to run the headlamps during daytime. At average daytime use, for New Zealand’s entire car fleet, this equates to 43 million litres of additional fuel or over 100,000 tonnes of additional carbon emissions.

Hella LED Safety DayLights™ have an ultra long service life. Vehicle maintenance and downtime are minimised, realising a substantial cost saving. Safety DayLights™ use less than 4 watts per pair, thus equating to 95% less power consumption than your car headlamps, whilst providing oncoming drivers with a much brighter and recognisable signal during daytime driving.

Hella LED Safety DayLights™ are designed as a one off ‘Fit and Forget’ solution to significantly enhance the driving safety for you, your family and other road users.

How do I know which LED Safety DayLights™ is suitable for my type of vehicle?

Both the rectangular and round Hella LED Safety DayLights™ can be used for commercial and passenger vehicles. The choice is based on aesthetics, the round more appropriate for passenger cars and the rectangular for commercial vehicles.
