Minimising Environmental Impact

Fuel Consumption and CO2 Emissions

Hella LED Safety DayLights™ - A durable investment into your safety and a responsible environmental choice.

95% reduction in energy consumption

The standard dipped beam lighting system of a car consumes a minimum of 120 watts of power adding as much as 0.2 litres/100 km to the fuel consumption of your vehicle. A vehicle that travels 25,000 km per year during daytime with dipped beam headlamps on would consume an additional tank of fuel every year just to run the headlamps during daytime.

At average daytime use, for New Zealand’s entire car fleet, this equates to 43 million litres of additional fuel or over 100,000 tonnes of additional carbon emissions.

In addition using headlamps during daytime would mean your valuable headlamp bulbs would burn out much more quickly, requiring frequent costly replacements. Hella LED Safety DayLights™ use less than 4 watts per pair, thus equating to 95% less power consumption than your car headlamps, whilst providing oncoming drivers with a much brighter and recognisable signal during daytime driving.

When installed correctly, LED Safety DayLights™ will automatically activate when the engine is started and will switch off when the headlamps/parklights are activated. This avoids dazzling oncoming drivers at night when our vision adjusts to the lower light environment.

Hella LED Safety DayLights™ are designed as a one off ‘Fit and Forget’ solution to significantly enhance the driving safety for you, your family and other road users.
