In 2008*, 366 people lost their lives on New Zealand roads and another 15,849 people were injured. The social cost to New Zealand of these tragic accidents is calculated at NZ$3.8 Billion and this figure does not include the damage to vehicles and property. Using data from studies carried out overseas the fitment of dedicated LED Safety DayLights™ would save New Zealanders from the trauma of between 3% and 11% of road fatalities and between 4% and 15% of injuries sustained by road users. These estimates exclude pedestrians who are equally at danger when accidently overlooking an oncoming vehicle. Dedicated LED Safety DayLights™ are signal lamps specifically designed for daytime use and are some 300% brighter in the direction of the oncoming vehicle than dipped beam headlamps. |

Over 25% of all fatal road crashes in New Zealand are head-on crashes. |
| Research suggests that some of those head-on-crashes can be avoided by the fitment of LED Safety DayLights™ which give drivers early warning and with that life saving reaction time to avoid the crash. |
